Lawn Fawn August Inspiration & Release Week: How You Bean? Candy Corn Add-On

Hello! I'm back again with another card for Lawn Fawn Inspiration week.  Today I'm playing with the new How You Bean? Candy Corn Add-On set.

This set is designed to be use with the original How You Bean? set by adding the candy to the jar in that set, but I had the idea to use it a little differently and create a halloween candy corn wreath.  I used the large wreath die to cut black cardstock and black glitter cardstock to create my wreath.

I used tiny candy corn from Costume Party set along with the candy corn from How You Bean? to decorate the wreath.  I also added some purple gems on the yellow Knock on Wood background for a little more shine and color.

Check out the Lawn Fawn Blog for more projects with this set as well as mini set Pumpkin Spice!

Lawn Fawn August Inspiration & Release Week: Shadow Box Card

Hello! Lawn Fawn Inspiration week continues today with the new shadow box card.  This is a fun new die set that helps you create fun shadow box scenes.

I went for something a little different and tried turning my shadow box vertically.  To do this I abandoned the interior elements you would normally use for the inside of the box and instead used one of the pop-up dies to create the mechanism to hold the scarecrow inside the box.

I cut my background paper with a notch to fit around the pop-up piece and added some distress oxide ink stamped cornstalks. The grass is also colored with distress oxide ink and covers up the pop-up mechanism.  I colored my scarecrow and pumpkins from Happy Harvest with colored pencils and added a banner sentiment at the very bottom of my shadow box.

Be sure to visit the Lawn Fawn Blog for more examples using the Shadow Box die.  Thanks for stopping by today!

Lawn Fawn August Inspiration & Release Week: Costume Party, Village Border + Trick Or Treat Border

It's Lawn Fawn Inspiration week! Time to get in the mood for Fall.  Today we are featuring the new stamp set Costume Party which is full of kids in cute costumes.  We are also featuring the new trick or treat border die and the village border die which I absolutely love!

I really love that there is a roll of toilet paper included with in the images of the Costume Party set, so the kids on my card are up to a little mischief. I cut the new stitched hillside backdrop from black card stock for the ground and cut off the back hill.  I also layered a few of the largest die cut rectangle frames behind it to create a little dimension between the foreground and background.  The birch trees are cut from storm cloud cardstock and create a perfect place for these mischievous kids to hide.

The "toilet paper" in the trees is micropore tape folded over then cut to thinner strips.  Finally my sentiment is a combination of stamps from Happy, happy, happy and the new Happy, happy, happy add-on sets.

For my second card I created a tone on tone background using the trick or treat border die.  The village border is cut from black glitter paper creating a shimmery border along the bottom.  The sentiment is created with Happy, happy, happy again (I just really love that happy) and a partial sentiment stamp from Spooktacular. I finished it off with a little ghost and bat that are part of the Scalloped Treat Box Halloween House Add-on die set. I added google eyes of course because that makes everything more fun.

Altenew Card Kit Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello! Today I am part of the Altenew New Day Card Kit Blog Hop.  If you arrived from Laura Jane's Blog then you are in the right place. If not and you want to start from the beginning of the hop please visit the Altenew blog HERE.

I have 5 cards to share using this kit.

I really loved the rose paper in the paper pad so I used it as a background and added all my other elements along the bottom so that the rose is the star of the show.  I added some glitter to the image for some more interest and to tie into the gold glitter tape along the bottom.  My second card uses the tape on some of the color cardstock then I used the included dies to cut the hearts.

For these cards I did some stamping on the pattern paper and embellished with some of the cut out pieces from the set and the colorful enamel dots.

For my last card I used the fancy frame die to cut it from the included gold paper.  I thought the small rose paper really went well with this style of the frame. I embellished with black enamel dots to help bring out the sentiment.

Altenew is giving away a $50 gift certificate to THREE lucky winners! Please leave a comment on the Altenew Card Blog by Thursday, August 17th at 11:59pm EDT for a chance to win. The winners will be announced on the Altenew Card Blog on Saturday, August 19th.

Campfire S'mores

I recently returned from our annual Cousins Camping trip which always makes me want to make a camping inspired card.  Today's card uses one of my favorite sets, Love You S'more along with Upon A Star to create a fun campfire scene with glow in the dark stars in a night sky. To see how I created this card check out the video tutorial at the end of my post.

Campfire Smores1

The stars are embossed with glow in the dark embossing powder then I blended distress inks over the embossing.

Campfire Smores2

I used gold watercolors to add little speckles of gold in the sky and to paint the moon. All the images I colored using copic markers and added some stickles to the fire to create that campfire flicker.

Campfire Smores3

Here is a look at the glow effect.  How cool is the glow in the dark effect of the stars and moon?  Check out the video tutorial below to see how I made this card or you can watch it on my YouTube channel HERE.

Neat & Tangled 5th Birthday Blog Hop

Hello!  I'm very excited to be part of the Neat & Tangled 5th Birthday Celebration Blog Hop today!  You should have arrived from the blog of my dear friend Jenn Shurkus! I have two cards to share today. I made both cards using new products that are available starting today!

For my first card I used the new Balloons Duo Stencils with Wilted Violet, Peacock Feathers, Twisted Citron & Mustard Seed distress inks to create the background.

I also used distress ink in Picked Raspberry and Spiced Marmalade to color the Hooray outline cut with the Hooray Word dies. I stacked 3 of the die cut sentiments together then added some clear Spectrum Noir sparkle overlay to give it a little shine.  I finished it off with a few new Like Magic sequins.

On my second card I used the Balloon Duo stencils again with Spun Sugar then stamped All The Sprinkles over the balloons with Worn Lipstick distress oxide ink.

The cute little giraffe and monkey from Wild Ones are colored using Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and the sentiment is a combination of stamps from Hooray and Wild Ones sets.

I am the last stop on the hop today but there is a whole week of birthday blog hopping to be done!
