Hello Autumn

So given that tomorrow is Thanksgiving maybe this should say Goodbye Autumn instead.  But I had some time to play with some new fall stamps recently and well technically Autumn isn't gone yet right?

I tried my hand at some ink smooshing, never done it before, it was pretty fun and I will be trying it again. I kept this card pretty simple and I am very pleased with how it turned out in the end.

I started by heat embossing the images on watercolor paper in copper embossing powder.  Then I used some scattered straw, fossilized amber and spiced marmalade distress inks for my ink smooshing and ink flicking.  I painted in more of the darker colors inside the leaf so it stood out more and then I added a layer of perfect pearls water with a brush over the leaf for some subtle shimmer.

I thought about adding some embellishments but decided to keep it simple and just mounted it to a kraft card base with foam.

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope all of you here in the states have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Sweet Holiday Wishes

I'm a little late with this post since it was part of our Fawny holiday week at the Lawn Fawn blog but better late than never right? I was inspired to create a more non traditional colored card so I went for some colorful sweets! Yum, yum!

I used the cloud border dies to make a puffy cotton candy like landscape for my gingerbread house. I stamped the house on some adhesive cork with brown archival ink then used the coordinating die to cut it out. I colored on the cork with color gel pens and used the Tsukineko White pico embellisher to do the white part.

The other candies are colored with Copic markers and cut with the dies which made it very easy to move pieces around as I created my sweet scene. I added Stardust stickles to the edges of everything to add the look of sugar.

On a side note. I mailed this sweet little card out to the Reed family yesterday to spread some Christmas cheer.  Petyon, the youngest of the family has suffered from seizures for the past 5 years, seizers which started around Christmas when she was less than a year old.  Christmas time just reminds the family of the time when the seizures started and they don't get much joy out of Christmas anymore.  My friend Ruth is Peyton's aunt and she sent out a request for Christmas cards, to bombard the Reed family with Christmas cheer and change what they remember about Christmas time.  If you want to send a card as well you can send them to
Praying for Peyton
PO Box 254
Brevard NC 28712.

It doesn't have to be a handmade card, just anything happy or joyful would fit the bill.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Very Fawny Holiday Week: Day 1

This Week is Fawny Holiday week over on the Lawn Fawn Blog. Holiday inspiration all week long and not just from the Design Team but other friends as well.  Be sure you check it out all week long.

For my card today I used a couple different holiday sets, Winter Owl and Joy to the Woods.  I used the trees in Joy to the Woods to create some branches for Winter Owl to perch on then I adorned them with ornaments covered in stickles.

I stamped my sentiment in Lobster red ink and dotted the "i's" with red stickles.  I added the new Glisten Stickles blend, which is part of the Frozen holiday 3 pack, to the branch and a couple of the bokeh dots in the background to add a little icy feel.

Be sure to check out the Lawn Fawn Blog for more fawny holiday projects!
