Quick Watercolor Christmas Tags

Today I have a little tutorial about making easy watercolor tags for your Christmas gifts.

For this project you will need watercolor paper, watercolors, stamps and a hole punch.  I die cut my tags with a circle steel die but they could be cut with scissors or a paper trimmer as well.

Cut out your tags in your preferred shape from the watercolor paper.  I cut mine with a stitched circle die because I felt the circle shape fit the wreath image I wanted to use from Studio Calico's Wreath stamp set perfectly but a more traditional tag shape would work just as well.

Next stamp the image with ink that is archival and will not smear when you add water.  You can also emboss the image with embossing powder and this will resist the water and keep the image crisp. I stamped my images with black Versafine ink and added clear embossing powder and heat set it.  This is how I like to black emboss rather than using black embossing powder.

Next watercolor the image.  I used two different green colors on my wreaths.  After coloring in the image I also added some flicks of green over top. The flicks of pain are a personal preference however it is a good way to disguise any stray paint you may have.

Next punch a small hole in the top of the tag and added ribbon or twine to attach your tag with.  I used a very small hole punch because of the size of my tag but a standard hole punch works just as well.

The plain wreath tags are cute just as they are but I decided I wanted to add a sentiment to the center of the wreaths.  This could be done before coloring if you like just be sure to stamp in a water proof ink. If you add the sentiment after it is dry then it does not matter what kind of ink you use.

You can added a "to" and "from" to the back side if you like, again personal preference.  It can also be left blank so write a personal message on.

Finally embellish your tags anyway you want by adding gems or glitter.  I added red stickles glitter like berries on one of my wreaths.

These are very easy to make and mass produce then there will be matching tags on all your holiday gifts.  Thanks for stopping by today!

Dinner Was Delicious!

I hope you all had a very Happy Thanksgiving here in the United States.  Today I have a post Thanksgiving Day dinner card.

I used Essentials by Ellen Autumn Acorns set to create this festive table setting.  I used a woodgrain background stamp to create the table and added some May Arts ribbon as a table runner. I used a silver gel pen to color the utensils which I think is a cool look.

Studio Calico: Park Ave Card Kit + Add Ons (Take 2)

I'm back to share a few more cards made with the December Studio Calico card kit Park Ave and the add-on sets.

This card is made with papers from the main card kit and the Banana Valentines Stamp set.  I embossed the sentiment and monkey with brown embossing powder.

I pierced around the circle die cut so I could stitched around it with the purple twine in the kit.

This card uses papers form the main kit as well as the Dots & Stripes pad. I stamped the elephant from Celebrate Animal Stamp set and cut it out with the matching dies.

I created a little canopy with a scallop border die and striped paper.  I thought it was reminiscent of a circus tent and complimented the little elephant.

I stamped out all the animals from the Celebrate Animal Stamp + Die set in various colors of ink and used them to decorate the large paper bags included in the main card kit.  I used Versafine ink for my sentiment for a nice crisp impression.

Studio Calico: Park Ave Card Kit + Stamp Add-Ons

It's Reveal Day at Studio Calico and I have some projects made with the main card kit Park Ave to share with you.

This card is made with the Main Card Kit only.  I colored the Taxi with markers and added stickles to the windshield to make it shiny. The included enamel dots make perfect headlights.

My second card uses Color Theory inks along with the stamp set from the main card kit to create a colorful city scene.

My third card for this post uses the Park Ave card kit along with the mini stamp set Talk Nerdy To Me.

I created a tag for my sentiment and used the purple twine for the top.  I think it kinda looks like crazy purple hair. I stamped the glasses behind the tag with green pigment ink. I added a little wink of stella clear glitter to the glasses on the tag for some shine.

Thanks for stopping by, stop by later today and I will share a few more projects with the December Studio Calico card kit and add-on stamps.

25 Days of Christmas Tags

Today I'm playing along with Tracey at and her 25 Days of Christmas Tags.  I created a tag using lots of Lawn Fawn goodies.

I used the Winter Gifts Tags along with Winter Owl and the Snow Day papers to create this super cute tag.  I used the circle and scalloped circle stackable to cut the perfect place for my sentiment and I also used one of the heart dies from Lawn Fawn to cut a little heart out of the tag layered behind. I finished it off with some ribbon and Peppermint Lawn Trimmings twine.

You can check out all the other tags at Tracey's Blog.  In addition to fun tags there are also prizes to be won! You can check out prize details and sponsors on her blog as well. Leave a comment here and I will pick one lucky commenter to be entered to win the drawing for prizes on the 28th.  Please leave a comment by the end of the day.

Happy Thanksgiving

And Happy Thanksgiving...a day early. I have a different holiday post going up tomorrow so I am here to share my official Thanksgiving card today. :)

I colored the cornucopia from Lawn Fawn's Harvest Season set with colored pencils and then cut it out.  I used papers from the Sweater Weather collection to create my background and scalloped circle frame. I white embossed the sentiment from Happy Feast and used a white gel pen to hand draw stitching lines.  I finished it off with a red burlap twine bow and some white enamel dots created using Wedding Dress white pico embellisher.
