Bursting with Holiday Cheer

Hope you are all having a fabulous Friday.  I can't believe that tomorrow is the first day of December, wow how the year has flown by.  Today I have a holiday card to share that's bursting with cheerfulness. :) This card uses lots of new goodies and a technique from one of the online card classes.

So the technique I used is combination of trapped embossed resist and kissing technique.  Basically I inked up the starburst background stamp with versamark and the snow dots background stamp with soft granite then kissed the two stamps together transferring the snow dots pattern to the starburst stamp.  I then stamped the starburst stamp onto my card stock and embossed the versamark ink with clear embossing powder, trapping the dots underneath. I then applied evergreen bough distress ink around the outside and some iced spruce distress ink at the center where the rays come together.  I also gave the point where the rays converge a little spray of perfect pearls pearl mist for a burst of shimmer behind my tree.

The wood tree was let's say, experimental.  I initially sprayed it with a very dark green spray ink. But thought it was too dark so I flipped it over and sprayed the other side with Dylusions lime green ink mist.  Some of the darker green from the back side weeped around the edges and gave it a very interesting look. I covered it with a thin layer of green stickles for a little sparkle. And finally I finished it off with the sentiment word bubble. Which, by the way, is stamped in the most awesome of red inks, red royal shadow ink from Hero Arts, so bright and even when it dries.

Neat & Tangled Holiday Tag

Hi, today the Neat & Tangled Design team is sharing some holiday tags on the Neat & Tangled Blog.  Here is the holiday tags I created using a couple sets, one of which isn't even a holiday set! :)

I created the background of my tag using distress markers on watercolor paper.  I cut the tag out of watercolor paper with a die then white embossed the snowflake image from hey cookie.  I used tumbled glass, broken china, faded jeans & chipped sapphire markers for the background.

I colored the blue from lightest to darkest diagonally across the tag.

I then used a paint brush and some perfect pearls mist in pearl to blend the blues together.

Once dries the pearl will come out more and create a lovely shimmer over everything.  I made the snow bank by cutting white card stock, covering it with glossy accents and then rock candy dry glitter. I am really loving the sparkly snow effect this has.

The tree & bear images are also embossed and colored with distress inks & water. I added snow to the tree with picket fence distress stickles and added tinsel twine as the hanger.

Fresh Squeezed Stamps: Bookmark

Hi Everyone.
Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving for those who celebrated it.  I myself and Thanksgiving-ed out! After 3 Thanksgiving meals in less than a week I've seen enough turkey for awhile.  I'm sharing my last guest design project with Fresh Squeezed Stamps today using Tickle Me Fancy.  I thought this feather image would look nice with a watercolor technique so that is just what I did.

I cut a piece of thick watercolor paper to 2 inches by 6 inches then embossed the feather image with white embossing powder.  I used distress markers to color in the feathers then went back over them with a paint brush and perfect pearl mist water to blend the colors. On the purple feathers I did use seedless preserves distress ink for the darkest color so I pressed my ink pad to an acrylic block and mixed in the pearly water from there to paint the dark color.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed the Ranger will make markers in the seasonal distress colors before too long. :)  You can do this same thing using the pads as well, I just find the markers better for detailed images.  The background I colored using just the ink pad ink and plain water.

You can see in this close up that the feathers have a lovely shine which is a nice contrast to the matte background.

Young Crafters Unite! Challenge #16

It's that time again...time for another Young Crafters Unite challenge.  Of course as we head into the holiday season we have chosen a holiday theme for this challenge. Here is my creation.

I used kraft cardstock and white embossing powder to give my little gingerbread family and the picture frame the cookie look of gingerbread with white icing.  I think it turned out really cute.  I colored in the red and dark brown shadows on the frame using colored pencils and for the peppermint I used my versamark marker to fill in the white stripes so that they could be embossed as well.

Fresh Squeezed Stamps: Poppin' By

Hi Friends,
I'm popping in today with another Fresh Squeezed Stamps card.  I used the Soda-lighted set to create this fun card with A LOT of glossy accents! :)

I stamped six bottles on Neenah solar white cardstock and did some simple coloring with copics.  I then cut them out and arranged them around my sentiment on the card base, the tops of the bottles that I trimmed off the sides of the card are what I used to fill in some of the spaces so I used most all my scrap pieces of my bottles. (In hind sight I should have done this next step before I adhered them down to the card but sometimes you don't think of things like this when creating)  I added star dust stickles to each bottle by spreading on a layer with my finger.  Then I covered each bottle with a layer of glossy accents.  I cut out the labels, which I stamped using soft granite shadow ink, then pressed them into the glossy accents.  The moisture from the stickles and glossy accents really warped my card.  And I managed to flatten it out some by ironing it once everything was dry. I let it dry overnight before attempting this.  If I did it over I would gloss up the bottles and let them dry before placing them on my card.

Winter Bunny Tag

Hello Friends,
Today I'm sharing a tag that was featured on the Lawn Fawn blog on Monday.  It features Winter Bunny which was one of the very first Lawn Fawn stamps I ever purchased (along with Frosties).  The first time I saw winter bunny I was sold.  My mother loves bunny rabbits, and I bought it to make a tag for her for Christmas that year.  This time I have paired this sweet bunny with Let It Snow.

I embossed winter bunny with versafine black ink & clear embossing powder on water color paper and used distress markers and a water brush to color him.  The polka dots I added using a white gel pen.  I stamped the chevron trees from Let it snow on the blue tag using two shades of green ink and then stamped the snow in the sky with white ink.  Before the ink was dry I applied perfect pearl powder to give the snow some shimmer.  For the snow bank I cut a second tag out of white then cut the shape of the bank.  I applied glossy accents to the entire piece with my finger and dumped Rock Candy dry stickles on top to create the crystal snow.  Mom might be getting another bunny tag this year! :)

On a totally unrelated note...My husband and I escaped to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge for a couple days earlier this week.  We visited the Salt & Pepper Shaker Museum while we were there and as silly as it sounds it was really a fun experience.  They have over 20,000 sets in this museum and they are for the most part grouped together by theme (vegetables, fruit, animals, etc).  Here are a few pictures I took with my phone.  It only cost $3 and it was a really fun to see all the creative design that went into the thousands of shakers.

A Very Fawny Holiday: Ornate Ornaments

Hello Friends!
It's not too early to start thinking about your Holiday projects and this week we are having a very Fawny Holiday week at the Lawn Fawn Blog!  Today I am featuring Ornate Ornaments and have made another candle holder using this set.

If you want to see how I made this I made a video tutorial about it on the Lawn Fawn blog.  I did discover that the markers will bleed a little when applying the sealer so just be careful and try not to drag the glue across the solid areas into the white too much.  But honestly when it is lit with a candle you don't notice these imperfections so much.  Another option would be to stamp on colored tissue paper and cut the shapes out to create solid colors.

Also another tip, if you have colors that don't show up as well as you hoped once everything is glued down and dry, try adding some glitter to enhance those areas.

Fresh Squeezed Stamps: With Sympathy

Hello,
Today I have a Sympathy card to share using the Tickle Me Fancy set from Fresh Squeezed Stamps.

I decided to play with the solid feather image and try out some embossing.  I stamped the line of feathers in versamark then shook on each embossing powder only onto certain areas.  I applied frayed burlap distress ink to the kraft cardstock after embossing, the darker color make the feathers stand out more.  The sentiment is stamped on a kraft strip with a little twine & a button to finish it off.

Hello There

Hello There!
Today I'm sharing a fun card I made awhile go but hadn't gotten the chance to share yet.  There is lots of inky goodness on this one.

First I created the background with distress inks then I sprayed my zig zag background stamp with a misting of heirloom gold perfect pearls mist and stamped it onto the inked background.  After making sure my inking was dry I stamped the sentiment and the mustache in Versafine black ink and clear embossed it.  Finally I added black diamond stickles over top of the embossed mustache.

Fresh Squeezed Stamps: Tickle Me Fancy

Hello! I'm back today with another reveal from Fresh Squeezed Stamps for their November release week!  Today I'm helping introducing the new set Tickle Me Fancy, a set full of feathers! 

And here is what I created with this set from Fresh Squeezed Stamps.

I heat embossed the peacock feather with clear embossing powder on white card stock and then blended distress inks over top for a little emboss resist technique.  The feathers that cross over onto the white are stamped in soft pool ink. To get them to line up I put a piece of tracing paper over my distress ink panel, then lined up the white on top of that, it allowed me to line up my feathers without transferring ink onto my colored panel.  I used stardust & lavender stickles to add some shine to my finished card.

Hi Everyone!
Today we are teaming up with the team from Marker Pop to bring you some creations featuring Lawn Fawn stamps and Copic Markers! I do love my copics so much, they are my go to coloring tool for card making.  I got some great BG copics from Marker Pop and wanted try and combine them with some fall colors as well.  Here is what I came up with.

Fresh Squeezed Stamps: Soda-lighted

Hello! Today I am happy to be helping the creative ladies at Fresh Squeezed Stamps with their November release week!  Today we are introducing the new set Soda-lighted which is a great set with some Punny sentiments and fun images to go with them.

Here is what I created with this set from Fresh Squeezed Stamps.

I did some masking to create the line of flowers along the bottom and cut them out and popped them up from the card base.  The bottle I colored with copic markers and the label I stamped and cut out separately and adhered on top of the bottle.  The "Soda Pop" words are stamped in soft pool ink for the faded look.

For this card I used many papers from the Nostalgia pad from My Mind's Eye.  I embossed the little telephones and popped them up on foam adhesive.  For the ribbon, I couldn't find a color in my stash that made me happy so I used distress stain and white silk May Arts ribbon to create my custom colored ribbon. :)
