Spooky Halloween

Happy Halloween!
This week Lawn Fawn and Scrapbook Adhesives have teamed up to bring you a week filled with awesome projects using their products, and since today is Halloween my project is of course fitting with the holiday.

SpookyBanner

I combined a few Lawn Fawn sets with some fun October Afternoon papers.  I have really enjoyed using the patterns from the new Witch Hazel collection.  And I used many different Scrapbook Adhesive products as well, including both the thin & thick 3D foam squares, I love that they come in two thicknesses!  The photo squares aren't actually adhered down to the panel behind since I used the foam adhesive, so I used a powder tool to remove the sticky before adhering it to my project.   Be sure to check out the Lawn Fawn blog for more Scrapbook Adhesive projects!

Frightfully Fun Halloween: Fun with Dies

Hello!
I'm back with another Spooktacular card featuring memory box dies! I got the graveyard die with the idea of silhouetting it agains a cool background.  So that's just what I did!

GraveyardScene

I cut the black gauze pattern paper with the graveyard border and then inked the cut edge with black soot distress ink.  The twiggy tree and small bats (also memory box dies) were cut from black cardstock.  The background is pattern paper from the Wtich Hazel collection.  I punched a 2" circle from yellow cardstock and used it to mark my music paper as to where the moon would be.  Then I inked the circle of the moon with wild honey distress ink and the rest of the sky with seedless preserves.  I did spray the paper when I was done inking to let the inks even out more and get a splotchy feeling as well.  For the moon I stamped the spiderweb background on the moon with orange ink, then I coated the whole thing with glossy accents (using my finger) and covered it in the new rock candy dry stickles.  I'm kind of in love with the sparkly moon. :)

Frightfully Fun Halloween: Treat Bag Toppers

Hello!
Today I have a fun treat project to share. These treat bag toppers are simple to make and have a little extra fun with some tulle added.

JellyBeanTreats

The sentiment flags are stamped on vellum and tucked behind the gathering of tulle. I used a zig zag border punch along the edge of the polka dot paper and put orange paper behind it.  The tulle rosette idea can also be found on my project featured in Sept/Oct Paper Crafts Magazine.  Did you see it? Fun pencil toppers!

Frightfully Fun Halloween: Bat Shaker Card

Hello!
Today I have a Frightfully Fun Halloween Shaker card to share with you.  I found some bat shaped glitter at my local craft store and that was what sparked the idea for this card.  You could also use some Halloween shaped confetti as well.

Frightfully Fun Halloween: Trick or Treat Tag

Hi Friends!
I'm back with another Frightfully Fun Halloween project today.  I decided to try my hand at another tag project and use some new products I just got.

TrickOrTreatTag

So I cut three tags out with my Cuttlebug, one out of black cardstock for the back, one out of yellow pattern paper and one out of the black with stars. I then use a circle die to cut out the "moon" part of the star paper. I also swiped Brushed Pewter distress stain across the black star paper to lighten it up some and give it a nice sheen. I spritzed the stain with some water so that the silver sheen would be nice and even. I thought this would help the bats stand out more. I layered my papers together with Ranger Glue n' Seal. I glued the yellow paper to the black cardstock first then coated it with Rock Candy Crackle Paint and set it aside to dry. Once it was dry and crackled I glued the star paper on top of the yellow.

For the bats I used a new memory box die and some black wool felt I just picked up from Ellen Hutson.  The die cut through the felt like butter! So much better than the acrylic felt you can find at the local craft store. To give the bats a little more stability I did glue the felt on to black cardstock also die cut with the memory box die.

I think it turned out rather cute, I had every intention of taping a Kit Kat treat to the back of the tag but it somehow got eaten before I was done. :)

Frightfully Fun Halloween: Block, Block...Pumpkin!

Hi Friends!
This is my second post for today so if you are looking for the Young Crafters Unite post please scroll down click HERE. Today Spooktacular card is a sketch based card from the Sept/Oct Paper Crafts issue. I wasn't sure what to name it so please excuse my cheesy duck, duck, goose reference. :)

Sketch2-Pumpkin

The squares are cut from pattern paper in such a way that I got a whole sentiment in each block.  The pumpkin is paper pieced from papers from the same pad then colored with distress inks.  The curly cues are natural hemp lawn trimmings cord, dyed with peeled paint distress ink and coated in multi matte medium so they will hold their shape.

Thanks for stopping by today! :)

Young Crafters Unite! Challenge #15

Hi All,
It's time for another Young Crafters Unite Challenge! The challenge this month is to use warm and cozy colors.

Here is my Warm & Cozy color creation.

Chari_15

For this card I inked a piece of white cardstock with scattered straw in the bottom left corner, wild honey, and spiced marmalade in the upper right corner.  Then I flicked water & heirloom gold perfect pearls on the panel.  The leaves are misted with red mist and a little bit of the perfect pearls gold. This photo shows the shine a bit more.

Chari_15detail

When I finished I discovered I had a tiny bit of brown ink right in middle of my panel...OH NO! So rather than scrap it, I attempted to fix the mistake by stamping little leaves using metallic distress stain.  It actually had an interesting effect. The stain pooled up in the void of the stamp and made the little lines inside the leaf stand out more.  Pretty cool!  I finished off by stamping text on the kraft cardstock base to create a pattern.

Frightfully Fun Halloween: EEK! a Spider

So I wanted to try and do a week of Frightfully Fun Halloween cards here on the blog.  Maybe a week and half since Halloween is next Wednesday, we'll just have to see how it goes.  Here it today's card.

EEK

I wanted to play with some ink sprays so I embossed the spider web background with Versafine black ink and clear embossing powder onto white cardstock and misted with green, orange & purple.  The purple mist I used is by Memento, called Fireworks and it has a shimmer to it, I liked it so much that I then I misted the whole thing with perfect pearls mist for the shine.  I also embossed the letters on white and sprayed them with the orange mist so that the color would match the tiny orange flecks in the background.  The spider is made from a black button, googly eyes and some black wire.  I guess this card could be used anytime of year actually! :)

Lawn Fawn Inspiration Week: And A Partridge

Hello!
Back with the last day of inspiration week for Lawn Fawn.  Today we are featuring And A Partridge.  This set may be based on a popular Christmas song but I think the images can be used all year round so I created a non holiday card using this set.

AndAPartridge

I did some masking with this images and stamped the different parts with Versamark & colored embossing powders.  I was sure to heat each color before masking and stamping the next piece. To fill in the pears with embossing powder I used my Versamark marker to color them in and apply the yellow embossing powder.  I stamped the background & sentiment with inks that coordinated with my embossing powders to tie it all together.

Lawn Fawn Inspiration Week: Let It Snow

Hello!
Welcome to Day two of Lawn Fawn Inspiration Week! Today we are showcasing the fun holiday set Let it Snow.  This set has endless possibilities for your holiday crafting.  For my project I created this cut candle jar.

LetitSnow

I cut plain white tissue paper to the right size to fit around my jar then stamped out my scene.  I then applied the tissue to the glass jar using Ranger's Matte finish Glue n' Seal.  I accented the snow in the sky with waterfall stickles and the snowy ground with picket fence stickles.  Here is a picture of it with the candle inside lit.

LetItSnow_Lit

This would make a great simple and easy gift for the holidays.  Be sure to check out the Lawn Fawn Blog to see more great projects using this set and comment for a chance to win!

Neat & Tangled: Kindess Matters

releaselogo
Hi Everyone today I am sharing project with the final set for the Neat & Tangled October release, it is called Kindness Matters.  I wanted to do something a little different with this project. Originally I wanted to create some sort of stamped art in a small picture frame but since I couldn't find a frame that made me happy I went another direction.  With the acrylic frames at Michael's I found this fun cell phone stand meant for a picture but thought it would make a great small art piece for the desk instead.

Kindness_Phoneholder1

Kindness_Phoneholder2

I used papers from the My Mind's Eye Nostalgia collection and white embossed the stamp images.  I added a burlap twine string around the front for some dimension. That sentiment looks great embossed and I filled in the open parts of the letters with stickles for some sparkle.
