Lawn Fawn Inspiration Week: Grand Greetings

Welcome to the last day of Inspiration Week for Lawn Fawn.  Today's featured set is Grand Greetings.  This set is great for creating a card where the greeting is the star.

I played around with some papers from the Bright Side Petite Paper pack to create the patchwork panel and then edged it with glitter tape from American Crafts.  The Ribbon is from May Arts and softens the geometric pattern of the papers.

Be sure to visit the Lawn Fawn Blog if you haven't already to see what the rest of the Design Team created with this "Grand" set! :)

Lawn Fawn Inspiration Week: Flying By

Hi everyone I'm back with another feature set for Lawn Fawn Inspiration Week!  Today we are featuring the mini set Flying By which has some cute paper airplanes!

I thought it would be fun to have one of the Lawn Fawn critters "flying by to say hi" in one of the airplanes, so that's just what I did.  The little bunny from Critters in the 'burbs fits perfectly in the larger airplane.  I've been playing around with Hero Arts layering papers lately and I used them to create a monochromatic background for my little bunny to fly through.  The clouds from Bon Voyage were stamped in Wet Cement Mid-Tone Shadow ink and I added a Chevron Backdrops pattern to them in Soft Pool Shadow Ink.  I accented the tops of the clouds with Picket Fence Distress stickles.

Be sure to check out the Lawn Fawn Blog to see all the other fabulous Design Team creations using this set!  And I think there is a giveaway going on.... :)

You Make me Smile

I have been anxiously awaiting the new Studio Calico/Hero Arts release for one particular stamp set, the Calico Borders set.  For whatever reason the border of butterflies just makes me happy, so I was excited to get to play with it this weekend, as well as try out some new water brushes as well.

I embossed the butterfly border with black ink & clear embossing powder on watercolor paper then used distress inks and water brushes to paint in around the butterflies.  I splattered it with some perfect pearls mist for some hints of shine.  After my colors dried I stamped the sentiment using Versafine black ink and finished it off with some twine and pearls. This card was fun to make and I will be playing with these techniques again very soon I hope.

Lawn Fawn Inspiration Week: Critters Ever After

It's time for another Lawn Fawn Inspiration Week! Today we are featuring the next critter installment, Critters Ever After!  So I decided to create a critter party...literally.

I stamped out all the critters from the set and had lots of fun coloring them with copics.  I used the roofs of the castle for party hats and stamped out a cupcake with Bake me a Cake.  This card started with the idea of the dragon blowing fire at a candle and grew from there. I kept the background neutral so that the critters really stood out on the card.

Be sure you visit the Lawn Fawn Blog to see what the rest of the Design Team created with these magical critters, and be sure you leave a comment for a chance to win!

Young Crafters Unite! Challenge #8

Time for the next Young Crafters Unite Challenge! This month we are challenging you to create projects with sewing or stitching.

I don't have a sewing machine, so my sewing on cards is limited to what I can do by hand.  I decided to do something a little different than traditional stitching around a card.

I cut out stars with my Cuttlebug and stamped each one with a different pattern stamp in yellow for a tone on tone look before attaching them to the card. Be sure you check out all the other amazing design team creations and all the challenge details at the Young Crafters Unite! blog including the amazing prize up for grabs.

Carnival - Guest Designing with Lawnscaping

Hi Friends,
I'm back Guest Designing for another Lawnscaping Challenge.  The challenge this week was to create a card inspired by another designer.

I picked this card from Yainea as my inspiration.

And here is what I came up with....

I focused on the card's layout and elements, using vellum, washi tape & gems.  I wanted to use Lawn Fawn's Admit One set because I don't use it very often, but I love the images. Be sure you check out the Lawnscaping blog for all the challenge details as well as other fabulous designs from the Design Team. Thanks for stopping by today and I hope that you will join us for this fun challenge!

Bright Ribbons

So I've been a very bad blogger and haven't posted in over a week. For shame! But it is for a good reason, I was working on some Paper Crafts projects for submission. Lots of work but nothing I can share :( at least not right now.  But I did make a quick little card the other day using some ribbon I found in the $1 bins at Target.  I don't typically buy the ribbon in the $1 bin because there is usually only a small amount on the spool, but these colors just jumped out at me, and I loved how they looked all packaged together.  I also like that double saddle stitch in corresponding colors.

I thought the bold sentiment stamp from Lawn Fawn's Many Thanks set fit perfectly with the bold ribbons. I stamped it in Grape Jelly Memento ink. Thanks for stopping by today! This is a super simple card using only a few supplies. I will try to be better about blogging...I promise! :)

Smile - Guest Designing with Lawnscaping

Hi Everyone,
This month I have the honor of guest designing with the wonderful girls at Lawnscaping!  Lawnscaping is one of my favorite challenges and the Design Team is just great, so I was honored when Laurel asked me to be a guest for March.  This weeks challenge is a sketch drawn by yours truly. :)

I used some of the new Lawn Fawn products to create this bright and happy card...a nice break from yet another cold snap that seems to have arrived here in NC.

I paper pieced a butterfly from the new Flutter By set and created the sentiment using Claire's ABCs.  All the papers are from the new Bright Side collection.  This card features a mix of 12x12 patterns as well as patterns from the petite paper pack. Be sure you check out the Lawnscaping blog for all the challenge details as well as other fabulous designs from the Design Team.  Thanks for stopping by today and I hope that you will join us for this fun sketch challenge!

Weathered Wood Card Set

Hi Friends!
I sketched out the idea for a card awhile back and finally had the time to sit down and make it happen.  As I pulled out papers to work on it I realized it would make a great set of cards so that's just what I did, I could not be more pleased with how they turned out.

I used different weathered wood papers from the new On The Bright Side Collection from My Mind's Eye.  I selected them based on color as well as orientation of the wood, so that each card would be different but still look like they belonged together.

The square wood panel is 3" x 3" and I carefully selected the most interesting corner of each paper so the exposed portions (around the square and through the bird) would draw more interest.

The crochet ribbon is from May Arts and each card features a different sentiment from the Hero Arts All Occasion Messages set stamped in Rich Cocoa ink on cream cardstock.  The bird die is from Memory Box.  I cut each bird in the center of the square then pierced around the edges.  The die cut piece is adhered with foam adhesive for some dimension and to cast a slight shadow on the wood panel behind.

I love that there was a diagonal wood pattern in this paper pad.  It allowed me to make each card different in orientation as well as color.  I'm thinking about making some more of these cards, I think they would look so sweet packaged up together as a gift.

Thanks for stopping by today!
