Lawn Fawn February Inspiration Week: You've Got Mail

Welcome back for the last day of Inspiration Week!  Tomorrow all the new stamp sets & paper goes on sale...I know you have all been waiting so patiently. :)  Today we are featuring You've got Mail and here is what I created with it.

I used some critters to help send some love with this cute set.  I also used chevron backdrops to create my own patterned grass.  All the images were colored with copics.  I cut a slit in the mailbox for the letter to slide into so that it looks like it's inside the opening.

Pinwheels & An Award

Hi Friends,
Just wanted to pop in quickly today and let you know I have a video tutorial on how to make pinwheels today on the Lawn Fawn Blog. Lawn Fawn February Inspiration Week: Chevron Backdrops

Inspiration Week continues with a set I know you have all been itching to get your hands on... Chevron Backdrops! Chevrons are popping up everywhere these days.  The first time I saw this stamp set I knew I had to make the card I am sharing with you today, because I'm a fan of Snoopy and the Peanuts gang.  I was having a brain block about the sentiment, but then sweet Nancy jogged my memory and reminded me just what Charlie Brown always says...

Fun right? The big bold zig zag totally reminded me of Charlie Brown's shirt.  I embossed the stamped image with black embossing powder and cut it out so that I could raise it up with foam dots and give a little more interest.  I also used Harold's ABCs to create the sentiment.

Lawn Fawn February Inspiration Week: Bright Side

Hi Friends, I'm back with another day of Lawn Fawn Inspiration week.  I'm sure you all know by now that Lawn Fawn has a new pattern paper collection called Bright Side!  These papers are so lovely and remind me of spring...which by the way can't come fast enough!  Here is a card I made using the new papers and one of the new sets from the spring release.

Although the Petite Paper Pad is perfect for paper piecing cards I actually used the larger 12x12 sheets of paper to create this card.  I created the flower like shape behind the butterfly by cutting small squares then rounding to of the corners of each of them.  I creased them to give it more of a petal look and glued down just the creased part to the purple piece.  The butterfly is folded too to make it look like it just landed on the card.  The butterfly and sentiment are from the new Flutter By set. I just love the sentiment, don't you? I also made a spring treat bucket using the new papers as well.

I white embossed the clouds from Bon Voyage onto the blue bright-eyed for the top and used a fiskars grass border punch for the bottom.  The Critters on the Farm egg stamp makes perfect easter eggs when stamped on the bright side colors.  I finished off the scene with the bunny from Critters in the Burbs & the flying bird from Gnome Sweet Gnome. There is a butterfly on the opposite side of the bucket from Blissful Botanicals which you can't see in this photograph. The dashed lines were hand drawn with a permanent marker.

Lawn Fawn February Inspiration Week: Gnome Sweet Gnome

It's Lawn Fawn Inspiration Week! So that of course means lots of inspiration and lots of giveaways over on the Lawn Fawn Blog so be sure to visit there and check them out for a chance to win new goodies!  Today we are introducing one of the new super cute sets released for Winter CHA, Gnome Sweet Gnome.  I think this set is just adorable, and so fun to color!

I made this card for the Lawn Fawn booth at CHA so you may have seen it if any of our visitors happened to catch it in their photos.  The little Gnome is seriously adorable.  I colored all the images with copics and cut them out.  I added glossy accents to the spots on the mushroom & mushroom house for some added interest and a little stickles on the flowers.

Young Crafters Unite! Challenge #7

It's that time again, time for the next Young Crafter's Unite! Challenge.  This month's challenge was certainly a challenge for me. Clear Cards? I've never made a clear card in my life.  But I am very pleased with what I came up with.

I came across some Hambly overlays at my local craft store, which I was super excited about. I have been wanting to get some to play with since visiting the Hambly booth at CHA, I can't wait for some of their new designs by the way.

I cut the overlay so that the circles would line up when folded.  Rather than doing any stamping I stuck with pattern papers and embellishments to create this card...no stamping at all!

Speedy Recovery

Hi Friends!
Sorry I have been absent from my blog, it has been a busy week! The good news though is that Granny got to go home last weekend, so now she can recover in the comfort of her own home, no one likes being stuck in a hospital bed!  I ended up giving her 4 cards throughout the week since her stay there stretched across both Valentine's Day and her Birthday (big bummer!).  Here is a quick little card I made for her in the middle of the week.  I had not had the opportunity to use this particular image from the Lawn Fawn On the Mend set so I jumped on the chance.

The background panel is part of Cosmo Cricket's Clementine paper pad.  I cut the card base to fit the panel and added a little white stitching. The clouds (although it's hard to see) were cut from some white felt that had a sprinkling of glitter on it, which I found at my local Michael's.  I colored the turtle with copics, cut him out and adhered him with foam adhesive.  The inside reads "wishing you a speedy recovery."

To my Studmuffin

Happy Valentine's Day Friends!
I hope your day is filled with happiness and spending time with the ones you love.  I want to share the little card I made for my husband, this is our first Valentine's Day as a married couple. Yay! We are going out for some oh so yummy sushi tonight at our favorite sushi restaurant, I've been looking forward to it all day. <3

 
This is the mini card I gave him this morning with a cake batter chocolate bar I found at Target.  (I told him he had to save me a bite because I want to know what a cake batter chocolate bar tastes like!)  I use papers from the My Mind's Eye Love Me 6x6 pad and Lawn Fawn's Love n' Breakfast to create this simple little card.

Happy Valentine's Day

Popping in with a quick post to share a valentine's card I made to play along with the current Lawnscaping Challenge.  I also made this card to give my grandmother for Valentine's Day.  She is in the hospital this week due to surgery she had on Sunday.  I am hoping she recovers quickly.

Here are the inspiration photos for this weeks challenge.  Although it's kind of small to see I recreated the hanging hearts that are at the top.

I clear embossed the hearts of teeny tiny backdrops on white cardstock then created the gradient using spun sugar, worn lipstick & festive berries distress inks.  The sentiment is embossed with red Zing embossing powder on vellum (it actually embossed better on vellum than regular cardsock, go figure).  I cut the small and large hearts using Papertrey Ink dies, and then free handed the middle size heart to fit between them. Finishing touch of red stickles & drawn red frame to finish it off.  I hope you all have a happy Valentine's day tomorrow.  I will be back tomorrow to share the card I made for my hubby! :)

You Rock!

Hi Friends!
Today I wanted to pop in and share a card I made for the Lawn Fawn booth at CHA.  However, because we had so many amazing samples for the new stamps not every card made it to the clothes line so lucky readers, that means you get to see something that the CHA attendees didn't!  Okay I realize that's not super exciting but it is a new stamp set and that's pretty exciting!!!!  Stay Tuned might be one of my favorite sets from the new release. You might have seen it HERE on the lawn fawn blog but if you missed it here is a look at the whole set (this one is a 3x4 set).

This set is great for those hard to make masculine cards, and I love the retro feel of the images.

This card reminds me of my Dad.  He is a musician and has been in bands as long as I can remember.  I still love to hear him play.  I love the retro microphone image in this set too.  I stamped it out with versamark and black versafine ink and embossed them all with clear embossing powder.  I gave the edges of my green strip a little definition with some shabby shutters distress ink.  The music notes were stamped in black ink on smokey shadow card stock.

Journey to CHA

Hi Friends,
So sorry I have been neglecting my blog for the past two weeks, I was away for a little while at CHA and now it seems I am having trouble getting my creativity going.  As my husband so kindly reminded me last night as I was getting frustrated with myself, everyone goes through down times in their creativity.  I guess it was bound to happen to me eventually.

It can be very frustrating to sit at my desk for the precious little time I have during the week after work and other activities and feel like I have accomplished nothing. UGH!  I think it's a side effect of winter too.  Shorter days, colder weather, and everything outside looking pretty dead is not a great motivator.  However, that being said, my trip to CHA was one full of fun and happiness.  I am, or I guess I should say "was" a CHA rookie. I still at many times feel very new to the paper crafting community and at CHA I really felt green.  But lucky for me I got to spend the majority of my time in the super cute Lawn Fawn booth telling people all the things I love about Lawn Fawn.  Perfect!  I got to meet friends from blog world face to face and made some new friends along the way too!  Here are some highlights (I did steal some of these photos from friends because I realized I stayed so busy I didn't get to take too many pictures). I will apologize in advance for this long post.

I flew out of Greenville, SC so my trip started with a hour long car ride to the airport.  My sweet husband was kind enough to take me and pick me up when I returned.  The sun was setting when I finally arrived Santa Ana where Jenny & Vera met me and Ayana at the airport.  I can't tell you how much I appreciated someone with a car that knew their way around Anaheim. Driving in unfamiliar places stresses me out!

After some running to hotels & back to the airport to get Laurel we met up with Kelly, Mike & Nancy at dinner.  I was so happy to get some food in my belly and get to spend some time with all these amazing people (who are all now so much more than just a thumbnail pic on my computer screen by the way) :)

 

Sunday was the first day of CHA, wow that place is huge!  We arrived before the opening ceremony to make some finishing touches to the booth.  What a fun booth to work in for 3 days!  Just look at all that cuteness!

I manned the Make & Take table where we made bookmarks I designed featuring the new paper, twine and critters ever after stamps!

I did slip away for a few minutes when my fellow LF design team member Julie showed up to give me a break, and went to find the Paper Crafts Magazine booth and introduce myself to Susan Opal.  She is so sweet, and I wanted to introduce myself since I got my first publication acceptance email last month!  (little did I know she would come visit us at the Lawn Fawn booth the next two days as well)  By the way, it was awesome getting to meet some of my fellow Design Team members while I was there...but dummy me didn't get any pictures with them.

I made some new friends while I was there and I am so happy to have gotten to know them!  Nancy & Ivy are just the sweetest, love them!  They helped out at the make & take table as well, we all designed a project so we made a different one each day.  It was nice to spend time with these lovely ladies.  I'm looking forward to keeping in touch with them.

All the Lawn Fawn Fawnies

What a great group of people to work with!  I met many others that came by the booth that were familiar with my blog and my designs. It so made me blush. Hehe. I loved getting to met everyone, and make new friends, priceless.  I hope I get the privilege to attend CHA again and expand on my experience from this trip.  Hopefully I will feel like I know more people and won't feel like such a newbie next time.  Big, big thanks to Kelly & Mike for having me!

I am hoping to give scrapbooking a go after this trip.  I have Amy Tangerine Daybook in which to document my expierence.  Just wish I had more pictures, but I will be better prepared next time.  I know I had my picture taken a few times, so if you have a photo you wouldn't mind sharing please email it to me.  I would love to add it to my book!
