Lawn Fawn Inspiration Week: So Thankful

Hi Friends! Today is our last day of Lawn Fawn Inspiration Week and we are featuring the super cute mini set So Thankful.  I love fall and anything that has to do with fall...including every pumpkin flavored item I can eat! These little pumpkins are so cute, I just love them.

I colored the pumpkins with copic markers and cut them out.  The zig zag is from Chevron Backdrops and is stamped in Toffee Crunch on the kraft card base.  I double stamped the sentiment on white first using black ink, then again with orange to give it a little drop shadow effect.  The twine is the brown from the Retro pack of Lawn Trimmings.  I like the look of the knot with frayed ends, has that rustic autumn feel.

Be sure to visit the Lawn Fawn Blog and see what other festive creations the Design Team has to share and as always I'm sure there is a little giveaway going on there too.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Lawn Fawn Inspiration Week: Interlocking Backdrops

Hello! Back again for day three of Lawn Fawn Inspiration Week featuring Interlocking Backdrops.  I might have needed my head examined when I decided to paper piece the tile background stamp but I pushed through and have a fun card to show for it!

Publicatiom badge

I stamped the herringbone on a diagonal in toffee crunch ink for that great tone on tone on the kraft.  For the tile pattern I white embossed the stamp on each of three papers from the Dewey Decimal petite paper pack then created my pattern from there.  I did color it out on a scrap piece of paper to plan out my colors a little bit and give myself a map to go by.  After I got the stars on there I thought it still needed a little something extra so I cut some strips of paper and sprinkled them around. :)

Be sure to visit the Lawn Fawn Blog and see other creations using this great set!

Lawn Fawn Inspiration Week: Fa-la-la

Hello There! I'm back again with another day of Lawn Fawn Inspiration week!  Today we are featuring the new holiday paper & sticker line Fa-la-la.  Fa-la-la is a cheerful paper line inspired by our favorite Christmas carols. :) I used the petite paper pack & some of the sticker elements to create this festive tag.

The tag I cut with a sizzix die in my cuttlebug.  The circle with the music note & the scallop banner strip are from the Fa-la-la sticker sheet. The bakers twine bow is the new peppermint lawn trimmings.

For the banner I heat embossed the "Merry Christmas" from the let it snow set with some WOW! embossing powder in platinum sparkle.  I was introduced to these powders at CHA and was excited to get some and put it to use. I just love the shimmer.  I embossed the sentiment on a strip of paper then folded it to create the banner, I outlined it with a memento marker in Love Letter.

Be sure to visit the Lawn Fawn Blog today to see other fab creations using this fun paper collection and of course comment, I bet Kelly has a giveaway going on! :)

Lawn Fawn Inspiration Week: Sweet Christmas

*** for my Young Crafters Unite post please scroll down or go HERE ***

Hi Friends, It's my favorite time of the month...Lawn Fawn Inspiration Week!  Today we are featuring Sweet Christmas, a new build your own Gingerbread House set.  Although I decided to use it to make a non-holiday card.

I love the little candy stamps in this set, the lollipops & gumdrops can be used for any occasion, not just christmas.  I colored the lollipops in pretty pink colors with some pink glam stickles.  The sentiment was created with some creative stamping, I only inked up the "day" portion of the word "holiday" to create it.  This card looks like a sweet candy world on a cloud. :) This set can also be used to make a super cute card to celebrate a new home.   Nancy and I made this Home Sweet Home card for summer CHA, it was a joint effort (Nancy cut out and colored the house and I put it on the card with the sentiment) and turned out so cute!

By the way this set (and all the products we will be featuring this week) are already available for purchase. Be sure to visit the Lawn Fawn blog and see all the other design team creations using this set and as always Kelly is giving away a set so be sure to leave a comment if you want to win!

Thanks for stopping by today, and thank you to those who left encouraging comments for me lately too, they mean so much! :)

Young Crafters Unite! Challenge #14

Hi Everyone! Today is the start of another challenge at Young Crafters Unite! and this challenge we are focusing on using a new technique you have been wanting to try.

For my card I tried my hand at alcohol inks.  I only had three colors to play with so the background is a mixture of sunshine yellow and sunset orange.  The sentiment panel and the embellishments are done with purple twilight.  Britta's post on alcohol inks not long ago was what inspired me to pick some up so I'm glad I got to give them a try.

Be sure you check out all the other amazing design team creations and all the challenge details at the Young Crafters Unite! blog including the amazing prize up for grabs.

Graveyard Shift

Hi Friends!
Remember me, the girl who disappeared from her blog? Well I'm back!  Today I have a card over at Neat & Tangled featuring a brand new set called Graveyard shift.  How cute is that skeleton, seriously?  Head on over to check it out the whole card as well as the other Design Team creations with this set.

Now for a little housekeeping. Why have I been missing???  Well like I said in a post before, life threw me a curve ball.  I lost my job a few weeks ago.  So I have been adjusting to not having a job to go to after 10 years as well as trying to look for one.  The Economy is not a friend to the architecture business right now. :( Also, I went to Scrapfest last weekend at the Mall of America to help out at the Lawn Fawn booth.  It was three days non-stop of make & takes....exhausting!  And to make matters worse I contracted the "Scrapfest Plague" while I was there.  Okay not really the plague, just a bad cold but still....Ugh! Here is a picture I stole from Britta's blog of us working away at the booth.

Also while I was away some super sweet girls graced me with a Liebster Award.  Thank you so much Melissa, Lenny & Audrey.  I'm very touched and you can't possibly know how honored I am and how much it means to me.

Liebster is a German word meaning "Beloved," "Favorite," or "Dearest." This award is a peer to peer award in which fellow bloggers present the award to their favorite bloggers with less than 200 followers. The origins of this award is unclear, but is believed to have originated by a German blogger. This award was designed to be a blog award in the pay it forward fashion to share your dearest and most beloved blogs that have less than 200 followers.

Thank the person who gave you the award and link back to their blog. Post the award onto your blog. Give the award to five bloggers who you appreciate that have less than 200 followers. Leave a comment on their blog letting them know that you have given them this awesome award!

I would actually love to give this award right back to the lovely ladies that gave it to me, because they are more than deserving, but I don't believe that is how this is supposed to go.  So in addition to MelissaLenny & Audrey who I think deserve it, here are my Liebster nominees....(by the way I have nominated some wonderful crafters before, you can find them HERE, so this time I am picking 5 different ones!)

Nancy - My fawnie roomie! :) Your blog has the perfect name because it makes my heart happy when I get to see you.

Stephanie - Fabulous friend and team mate, you always makes such beautiful creations inspiring creations!

Jean - So happy to have gotten to know you through the Neat & Tangled team and glad I could get you addicted to stickles LOL

Mary Dawn - Always inspiring and to blame for my ink addiction...thanks?

Kari - fellow Lawn Fawn lover and truly sweet girl. :)

Truth be told it is hard to pick 5 people, because I never want anyone to have their feelings are ALL inspiring! :)

Okay, that's all for me today.  I will be back tomorrow with the first day of Lawn Fawn inspiration week (be sure to go leave a comment on today's post HERE for a chance to win goodies!) and another Young Crafter's Unite challenge.

Autumn Thanks

Hi Friends,
I have neglected my blog lately.  Life has thrown me a curve ball and it is sucking the creativity right out of me I'm afraid.  But luckily I have some Fall projects that I made quite awhile ago for a submission call and I have been saving them to share when the right season came along.  The air has turned cool here in Western NC and some of the leaves have started to change.  There is a little crunch of fallen leaves when I walk outside which is a sure sign that my most favorite time of year is here. :)

This card focused on "natural elements" so I incorporated burlap, cork & burlap twine.  I stamped the woodgrain background using two different shadow inks so that the color above and below the cork element would have some contrast.  The tree from Lawn Fawn critters in the burbs can be easily colored to reflect the autumn colors and the little leaves added to it give it a different look, great way to stretch this stamp a little.

Tonight we are heading out to the NC Mountain State Fair.  Going to the fair is one of our favorite activities in the fall.  I'm ready to see all the fall decorations, the animals and eat some of what my sister calls "yummy fried goodness." Watch out Fried Oreos and Maple Cotton Candy, I'm coming for you! :)
