Operation Safe & Sound

Hi Friends,
Today I'm here a special post for my friend Christy.  For those who may not know Christy is a part of the Lawnscaping Design Team.  She was one of the first people to comment on my blog when I first started.  She is sweet and encouraging and a good friend.

Unfortunately Christy and her family were victims of a home invasion recently.  Many of their valuables were stolen and their home was trashed.  Some of the things that were taken or destroyed were sentimental and irreplaceable. You can read her post about it HERE. One thing Christy said to me long ago was how she loved the community we are all a part of through crafting and blogging. We are there for each other despite the many miles that separate us.  The people who broke into Christy's home not only stole her possessions but also her sense of security.  They violated her home, the place where we are supposed to feel safe and secure.  Dealing with police reports, investigations & the insurance company has been and continues to be exhausting and frustrating for Christy and her family.

Some of Christy's Friends have come together to try and help.  We are of course making cards for her because that's what we do.  But ultimately, we want to help her and her family get back on there feet.  Imagine having to replace the necessities while also trying to rebuild the sense of security that we sometimes take for granted.

If you would like to help Christy and her family there is a PayPal button for donations.  If it is your heart's desire to give please do, every little bit can help, nothing is too small.  Our goal is to raise $1,000 to help cover the costs of food, lodging and replacing some of the items taken.

My card I made for Christy is below, but if you're interested in seeing all of the cards, a full list of girls who are participating in the card drive is available at the Lawnscaping Challenge blog & A Blog Named Hero

Christy I made this card to encourage you to continue to shine even when the world seems dark around you.  Don't let the actions of others weigh you down, keep your head up and God will keep you and your family safe. Hugs to you sweet friend. :)

Thanks for stopping by today, and thank you for your help.

Easy Chair + Tutorial

Hello Dear Readers!
Today I am sharing a simple card with a fun technique over on the Lawn Fawn Blog. I am paper piecing using a solid image stamp. This technique is a great way to get more out of your solid stamps. Here is the card I created.

This little arm chair has been getting a lot of use lately! :) Basically I clear embossed the image on my pattern paper and colored over it and around it with a marker then cut it out.  You can check out the video over on the Lawn Fawn Blog or on the Lawn Fawn You Tube channel.
By the way the names of the solid Bazzill papers I used that match the bright side collection can be found at the Bazzill Basics Matchmaker website.

Young Crafters Unite! Challenge #11

It's that time again, time for another Young Crafters Unite! Challenge.  For this month's challenge we are playin with "Many Layers!"

For my card I die cut some circles from an old pattern paper pad and used both the positive and negative spaces to create my layered design. The little bird is a studio calico wood veneer shape colored with sweet plum memento ink. I really liked these little shapes and think I want to get some more soon.  The sentiment is from a new Hero Arts Studio Calico set that I just got and can't wait to play with more.

Be sure you check out all the other amazing design team creations and all the challenge details at the Young Crafters Unite! blog including the amazing prize up for grabs.

The Lonely Chair

Hello Everyone! Today I am popping in to share a card I made to play along with the "Pucker Up Buttercup" Kissing technique challenge over at A Blog Named Hero.

For my card I inked up the arm chair from the Lawn Fawn Dad's Day set in soft sand shadow ink and then kissed it to the Hero Arts Envelope Pattern inked up in Cup O Joe shadow ink.

I traced around part of the image with a brown marker so that it would pop more.  The sentiment is from the new Hero Arts Studio Calico set and was stamped in Brown Sugar ink. (supplies are linked below)

On a separate note...I had a request to see my crafty space. Please excuse the poor video, I filmed with my phone and it's hard to open drawers and show stuff without being a little shaky, but for those of you who are interested here you go.

Thanks for stopping by today! :)

Lawn Fawn June Inspiration Week: Quinn's 123s

Welcome back for the last day of Lawn Fawn Inspiration Week.  Today we are featuring Quinn's 123s, a great addition to Quinn's ABCs! Here is what I created!

I used Quinn's 123s along with Smitty's ABCs to create this fun Route 66 sign.  I drew the sign shape by hand then colored and cut it out.  I think the glossy accents add a nice shine like road sign might have.  This card also features Harold's ABCs to create the sentiment, Critters in the Burbs along with Winter Bunny's scarf and School House Backdrops to create the road.

Be sure to visit the Lawn Fawn Blog to see all the rest of the design team's fab creations, I hear Kelly Marie is giving away a set of Quinn's 123s as well!

Lawn Fawn June Inspiration Week: Happy Summer

Lawn Fawn Inspiration Week continues today as we feature the mini set Happy Summer.  I used this set along with some other sets to create a fun picnic scene.

The picnic blanket is woven out of May Arts ribbon And I added some fruit from My Silly Valentine & Lemonade from Make Lemonade to round out my summer scene.  The plate under the watermelon is from Love n' Breakfast.

Be sure to visit the Lawn Fawn Blog and see what the rest of the Design Team created!

Lawn Fawn June Inspiration Week: Belinda's Borders

It's Lawn Fawn Inspiration Week again!  Today we are featuring one of the new sets that released last month, Belinda's Borders.  I have been waiting for a border set!!!  Here is the card I created for today, not only are these stamps great for borders but you can use them to make patterns as well!

I clear embossed the borders on white cardstock then applied distress inks before die cutting the butterflies.  I just love this set and already think it will be one that gets a lot of use.

Be sure to visit the Lawn Fawn blog to see the rest of the design team creations using this set and comment over there for a chance to win this set for yourself!

Zig Zag Thanks

Hello Dear Friends!
Today I have a card that is super simple and appropriate for anyone. This card could be put together quickly when you need a card in a hurry or made in mulitples pretty easily too to give away as a set or just to have some on hand.

I created this card when playing around with some Hero Arts Shadow Ink colors.  I like the smoother look that shadow inks create with bold solid images.  I think this card also shows an interesting way to use the Chevron Backdrops from Lawn Fawn, you don't always have to make a background with them! :)

On another note:  Thank you to Craft Corners for featuring me as one of their Best of the Web! You can see their post HERE.

Typewriter Love

Hi Friends! Today I have a video over on the Lawn Fawn Blog showing how I created this card. You can check out my video HERE or on the Lawn Fawn YouTube Channel.

Just My Type might be an older set but this was the first time I have used it.  My favorite part is how the sentiments fit inside the typewriter paper. It's been my goal lately to use some of my fun supplies rather than hoarding them away.  I like what this washi tape and studio calico flair add to this particular card.

Hi everyone! Today I have a card to share the I made to play along with A Blog Named Hero's current challenge Color Me A Hero.

The challenge is to make a project based on the color scheme in their logo. Typically I struggle with color challenges, I'm not sure why. But this one I managed to use all the colors and I am kind of in love with my end result.

I used hero arts layering papers and a stamp set I have had for a long time but never used. I'm extremely happy with the result and the soft colors. To create a different pink tone for the flowers I rubbed bubble gum mid-tone shadow ink on the carnation paper before punching out my hearts.  I also used an American Crafts Knock Out border punch for the bracket edge.  I like these because I have limited punch storage space and you only need one base for multiple designs, a cool idea you should check it out!

Happy Birthday Card

Hi Friends, today I have a birthday card to share that I made awhile back but I'm just now getting the chance to post it.  This is actually one of my Stamping Royalty rejects...but since the non-winner cards went to Operation Write Home I know that it will still be used to make someone smile. :)

This card is great for anyone of any age I think.  The "happy" has newspaper background stamped inside it to add come color without over powering the card.  I was trying to embrace the white space and keep it simple but also fun.

Thanks for stopping by today! <3

May Arts + Lawn Fawn Week

Hi Everyone! This week the fawnies have teamed up with May Arts for a fun week. The generous people at May Arts showered us with beautiful ribbons to play with this week. Here is what I created. I'm on the road for work (I'm trying out the Blogger app on my phone as we drive along) so forgive my short post. :)
