2011 in Review

My good friend Lynnette did a post yesterday of her favorite 11 cards from 2011.  Seeing as my blog is just over a year old I thought it would be good for me to do the same thing.  Looking back my list of favorites was a little long but I narrowed it down to my top 11 cards of 2011.  So here is a look back at some of my favorites.  I've linked each picture to it's original blog post, just click on the photo's caption.

Woodland Thanks
Critter Polaroid
Vine Thanks
Under the Stars
Witchy Kitty
Giddy Up!
Witching You
New Baby
Whale of a Time
Autumn Apple Thanks
Copper Snowflakes

I told it was hard to narrow them down.  Are there any favorites of yours that I missed??? :)

When I started my blog a year ago I never dreamed of how much it would change my life.  I found a wonderful creative outlet for myself.  I've made some amazing friends and been blessed with some great opportunities.  Thank you all for your support, encouragement, inspiration and friendship.  I've come a long way in a year.  I hope 2012 holds just as much excitement and growth as 2011 did. :) My one little word for this past year was Adventure and it certainly has been just that.  Wishing you all a very Happy New Year!

Christmas Countdown: Day 9/10 - Snowman Tag & Simple Card

One the ninth & tenth days of Christmas... I got hit with a cold, and now I'm behind. Oh well.

So I'm a little behind due to getting sick & getting busier as Christmas gets closer.  So you will have to excuse my quick pictures taken with my phone.  I still wanted to share days 9 & 10 and not delay them any further.

One of my favorite designs in the new October Afternoon Holiday Style pad is the City Sidewalks paper with the city scene.  But it's too pretty to put stuff on top of it, so I created a card that featured this beautiful paper.

I made a tall card to fit the paper and only trimmed down the top and bottom a little.  I used Martha Stewart decorative tape for the top and bottom edges.  The vellum piece is stamped with white staz-on with embossed letters in black on top.  The vellum flap is only adhered on the back of the card so that you can pull it back and see the picture by itself.  I finished off with some doodlebug Christmas twine and a Silver Bell of course!

Next I have a little snowman tag I created last night (because I had a present that needed a tag by tonight).

The background is Stormy Sky distress ink with a little water dripped on it.  I stamped out the images from Lawn Fawn's Making Frosty Friends and colored them with copics.  I added stickles for some sparkle and some Glitter Snow to the snowbank for more texture.  Which by the way is this week's Lawnscaping Challenge!  So I will be submitting it over there.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Hopefully I can get my last two projects finished and up before Christmas. :)  Today is my last day of work before vacation so I will at least have a little extra time starting tomorrow.

Christmas Countdown: Day 8 - Holiday Candle Jars

On the eighth day of Christmas... I have a video to share!

So this is a super easy project, you can even do it with your kids.  It's a project my Mom and I have been doing for years.  I tried something a little different with my video this time.  I did my talking while I was filming rather than doing a voice over and I only sped up one part.  Enjoy!

And here is a picture of the finished jars.

I did add some stickles to the bird jar, red stickles on the berries on the branches and some yellow stickles on the beaks and feet of the birds.  Once everything was dry the beaks and feet of the birds sort of disappeared so the yellow stickles helped them stand out better.  As long as you don't cover an image with opaque glitter then some little accents like this works fine.

Like I mentioned in the video, colored tissue paper works fabulously for this project too if you want more of an abstract look without an image.  And great for kids to make too.  If I get a tissue paper one finished before Christmas I will be sure to share a photo.  This project can be used for any holiday or just everyday candle holders as well.

Now for today's Christmas songs quiz questions...
15. Where does one go a wassailing?

Christmas Countdown: Day 7 - Merry & Bright Banner

On the Seventh day of Christmas... I made a fun banner...Finally!

So I'm a little late posting, I got crafty all day Sunday until I had to head out to a Birthday party, but didn't get photos taken of my projects. Not enough hours in the day.  I have been wanting to make pendant banner for awhile now after seeing Heather's banners.  You can check out one of them HERE.

I cut out the pendants with two sizes of sizzix framelits triangle dies.  The blue pattern paper is from October Afternoon's Holiday style collection.

I used snowflake paper punches from Martha Stewart to punch out the snowflakes then covered them in stickles for some shine.

Christmas Countdown: Day 6 - Mistletoe Owls

One the sixth day of Christmas - the little owl friends are back!

I did put my littles owls away for awhile, but my friend who asked me to make an owl anniversary card a couple months back asked me to make her a Christmas card too.  It's about time I brought them back out anyway. :)

The sentiment continues on the inside to read "You are Whoo... I want to KISS under the mistletoe."  I mirror stamped one of them so they would be facing each other under the mistletoe, ready for a little smooch! :)

Now for today's Christmas songs quiz questions...
11.  Where do the hopes and fears of the years meet?    (a little tricky)
12.  What would keep me warm all the way home?

Answers from yesterday...
9. Who still wants a hula hoop?  Alvin the Chipmunk of course
10. Who kept time to the drum? (hint: with the little drummer boy)  the ox and lamb kept time
